Speciale Mondiali 2008 - Bettini, che fesseria!

Non tanto per il fatto che si voglia ritirare. Ci sta. A trentaquattro anni è giusto che un corridore prenda una decisione sul suo futuro. Il problema sono i tempi. Perchè se è vero che "maturavo la cosa da anni, già nel 2004 avevo dichiarato che avrei corso sino al 2008", è altrettanto vero che "domani c'è una certa corsa; questa cosa deve darmi grinta e non sgonfiarmi". Non si vede assolutamente il motivo per fare dichiarazioni di abbandono la sera prima di un Mondiale. Se è vero che lui si caricherà che accadrà ai suoi compagni di squadra?
Siccome il sospetto è forte, gli è anche stato chiesto, senza mezze parole, se non sia una delle tante sceneggiate viste ultimamente con altri; mentre qualcun altro, più delicatamente, ha chiesto se una vittoria potrebbe farlo tornare indietro. "Ragazzi, io domani attacco per l'ultima volta il numero".
In un mondiale che già ci vedeva in difficoltà questa notizia rischia di deflagrare ed affondare la barchetta Italia che, adesso, è sempre meno favorita.
