Ci aveva già provato sbato verso Cervinia, poco dopo il via, ad andarsene in fuga. Ma al Giro è molto difficile andare in fuga e quel giorno Matteo non aveva azzeccato lo "scatto giusto". Anche così, da un tentativo andato a male, può nascere una grande impresa ed è bello pensare che la grande tappa del Pian dei Resinelli sia nata proprio da questo scatto imprigionato così, dalla macchina fotografica. Quasi per caso, sulla strada del Giro.
He tried already the previus day, towards Cervinia, just after the departure from Cherasco. He tried the break but failed because at the Giro isn't easy to break, even early. Even from an unsuccessful attack can born a great stage as the one we admired to Pian dei Resinelli. It's nice to imagine that the victory started the earlier day, on the flat, trying an early break. The same I captured in the picture above on the roadside of the Giro.
