Guardate bene questa fotografia. E' la mattina del 20 Marzo 2010, e la carvana si è già riunita di fianco al Castello Sforzesco, per l'ennesimo appuntamento con la Milano Sanremo. Oscar Freire non è dato tra i favoriti ed il pullman della Rabobank, la sua squadra, è libero dall'assalto dei giornalisti. C'è solo un reporter, Australiano, che gli parla e lo riprende con la sua telecamera. Oscar è rilassato e sorride, ed io, che sono in cerca dei favoriti di giornata, Boonen su tutti, gli scatto una fotografia senza neppure avvicinarmi. Freire quel giorno siglerà una delle sue splendide vittorie, forse la più difficile da raggiungere, sotto un tempo da lupi. Un omaggio ad un grandissimo che si ritira.

 

Give a close look to this picture. It's the early morning in Milan on 20th March 2010. Ready to start the Sanremo, Oscar Freire is chatting with an Australian journo, the only one interested to the Spanish, a non favourite of the race. I'm also looking for Boonen and the other but I shoot this picture anyway, even if I was far from him. That day Oscar Freire won his third Sanemo at completion of a wet, hard race. One of the best edition of the last ten years. This picture it's a memory of a great carreer that is now over.
