Rubens Bertogliati

Rubens Bertogliati - Ricordo del Giro d'Italia 2009 / Memory of Giro d'Italia 2009
Quella vincente.

This post is dedicated to Rubens Bertogliati, the Swiss rider that will quit the pro career at the end of this season. He was a brave, one of those men always attacking and breaking out very early in the races. He also lived great days at Tour 2002, when he was very young, wearing the yellow jersey a couple of days after a great victory. But the career of Rubens is also full of those breaks that never come to the end or dead just few kilometres before. A day, at Giro 2009, the break of Ruben came, but even that day another wheel (Gerrans) was coming earlier on the finish. It was the stage finishing in Bologna, on the top of San Luca. The day after I met Rubens at the departure of the next stage in Forlì and he was explaining me everythin about that action. How he lost the wheel, his crisis (the moment I shot), the recovery, the strenght but Gerrans so far away already and with not chance to catch him before the finish. Rubens was not really upset during the talk, but just looking forward to another chance, another breakaway. The good one.
