Poggio di Sanremo is the very famous climb that any rider has to cross, after 290 km ride, to join Sanremo finish line at very first big classic race of the year. Look at this shot, it was on 2010, when Freire won: we are at 500 meters from the top of the climb, Gilbert and Pozzato are out of few meters and behind them anyone gives away the last drop of energy to close the gap. Even an experienced sprinter like Petacchi is in first line to propitiate the final sprint in Sanremo. The Group of best become a long queue of desperates who take the look to the gear of the rider above them. This is Poggio, few seconds of sheevers, that last forever.
