Ciao Ale! Mi spiace di inviarti ancora il testo via SMS ma Martin è al lavoro sul computer ed il mio BlackBerry è ancora fuori uso per le emails. E’ la mia quarta volta sull’Alpe d’Huez; qui sopra ho visto vincere Hampsten, Conti, Pantani ed ora Sastre. Marco era il più veloce di tutti, fissava la strada davanti a se, con il sole che si rifletteva sul capo rasato, ed il sudore che gocciolava dal naso, impressionante, indimenticabile. La folla chiede un altro scalatore così – oggi c’era la metà della gente che io ricordi. Ad ogni modo, Sastre entra a far parte della leggenda – vincerà però il Tour? A domani (ti invieremo qualche foto stanotte).

Marco was fastest, staring at the road ahead, the sun reflecting from his bald head, the sweat dripping from his nose, impressive, unforgettable. The crowds need another climber – there were half the fans here that I remember. Anyway, Sastre becomes part of the legend – but does he win the Tour? A domani (we’ll send some pics tonight).
