E' il favorito della gara a cronometro. Ma come spesso accade un uomo in forma può essere determinante anche nella gara in linea. Forse non per se stesso (chissà?) ma nell'economia della corsa certamente.

He's the favourite for the ITT. But, as often happens, a man with so good form can be very important also for the road race. Maybe he won't be decisive for himself (who knows?) but he can give a word in the great corus on Sunday.

Quest'anno ha stravinto la Roubaix. Poi problemi personali lo hanno allontanatpo dalle corse oltre il previsto. Alla Vuelta ha nuovamente vinto e domenica, a Varese si gioca reputazione e futuro. E' difficile che sbagli.

He won the Roubaix in April with one leg only. Then he left the races for a while for personal problems. At the Vuelta he was back and won again. On Sunday, in Varese he will fight for his reputation and future. Difficult that he fails.

Aleandro Valverde (Foto Ed Hood - PezCylingnews) è il campione Spagnolo in carica. Nell'ultima Vuelta ha vinto una tappa ed è arrivato secondo sul difficile arrivo in salita dell'Angliru.

Alla Vuelta sembrava quasi distratto ma a Varese sarà tutta un altra storia. Podi al mondiale ne ha già collezionato parecchi ed è pronto per il gradino più alto. E' forse il corridore più completo dell'intero circo. Capace di vincere la Liegi e di lottare per la maglia gialla al Tour.

He was distracted during the last Vuelta but in Varese it will be a different story. He was one of the most regular during the past World's editions and he's ready for the highest step. He's probably the most complete rider of the entire circus. Able to win the Liegi and to fight for the yellow jersey.

Da alcuni anni le sue stagioni si assomigliano. Primavera sottonono, Giro brillante e gran finale di stagione. Negli ultimi tre anni Bettini si è pappato due Lombardia e due Mondiali nei finali di stagione. Quest'anno ha forse faticato più di altre volte ma Ed lo vede ancora favorito.

Since few years he grows step by step starting with a quite spring, riding a brilliant Giro and finishing loud in teh fall. In the last three years he ate two Lombardia and two World's in the final part of the season. This year he suffered a bit more then previously but Ed sees him still favourite.

Oscare Freire (Foto Ed Hood - PezCylingnews) è stato campione del mondo a Verona (2 volte!) ed a Lisbona.

Ne ha vinti tre e se vincesse a Varese diventerebbe il più grande. Nessuno più di lui sa cosa c'è da fare per vincere un Mondiale perchè lui è lo specialista della maglia iridata. Ha vinto alla Vuelta e poi si è ritirato perchè si sentiva pronto. E se si sente pronto lui...

He won three of them, and if he win in Varese he would become the greatest. Nobody knows better then him what to do for win the World's challenge because he's the rainbow specialist. He won during the Vuelta and then he quit because he was feeling ready. And if he feels ready...
