Ecco Breshel (Foto Alefederico), terzo a Varese, l'unico in grado di impedire il podio azzurro.La scuola Danese ne sforna un altro. Questa volta si stratta di un corridore veloce, adattissimo alle classiche del Nord. Si tratta di Matti Breshel, ventiquattro anni. L'unico ad inserirsi tra gli azzurri ed a impedire il podio monocolore dei nostri. Nel finale, a Varese, ha chiesto (ed ottenuto) collaborazione al suo compagno Soerensen. Soerensen ha vanamente inseguito Ballan per oltre due chilometri ed ha pure lanciato la volata; fatica premiata, visto che la Danimarca ha agguantato uno storico podio. Una settimana prima Breshel aveva vinto la tappa conclusiva della Vuelta, a Madrid, dedicata ai velocisti. Niente male; segnatevi questo nome perchè è destinato a far parlare di se.
