Torniamo laddove abbiamo cominciato questo racconto. Siamo sul Monte Petrano, un "panettone" che emerge tra i gruppi del Nerone e del Catria. Il monte delle gite domenicali, dei barbeque. Il monte dei tornanti e del vento. Il Giro d'Italia ha scelto questa cima remota e sconosciuta come arrivo di tappa. Un arrivo "pesante", forse decisivo per la classifica generale. Ma davanti le cartucce sono bagnate, ed è dietro, in coda al gruppo dei migliori, che la battaglia infiamma. Guardate il giovane Belga  Seeldrayers con quale grinta affronta gli ultimi chilometri della scalata. Deve conquistare la maglia bianca dei giovani e dare un senso al suo Giro d'Italia. Forse un giorno punterà tanto più in alto, ma oggi la posta è un drappo bianco, che simboleggia la purezza dei giovani. Loqvist è dietro sin dal Catria, e non fa più paura, ma il giovane Masciarelli potrebbe beffarlo saltandolo in classifica. Ma Kevin oggi non può fallire e quindi pedala senza sosta alcuna sino a diventare tuttuno con la bicicletta. Oggi Kevin diventa grande.

 

Back to the start of this tale. Monte Petrano stands alone between the two groups of mountains in the middle of the Appennines: Nerone and Catria on the two sides are much bigger. Today the Petrano was elected by the Giro as finish of the most important stage of the 2009 edition. The GC protagonists have passed already but the furious battle is taking place just behind them, where the young Belgian Seeldrayers tries to wear the white jersey. Loqvist, the leader of that classification is well behind since the Catria and Kevin has to look from the Italian Masciarelli. But today the bike of the Belgian flies and there's no matter that can stop him. Kevin is going to grow fast.
