Vasil Kiryienka - Memory of Tirreno Adriatico 2015 |
The
destiny to be alone. He isn’t a winner, but his wins are those kind that you
can’t forget. Kiryienka is always alone. In a sport that impose you a direct
competition with 200 other men, he found the way to find the victory staying
alone. Alone during his long successful breaks through the high mountain stages
at Giro (Monte Pora 2008 and Sestriere 2011). Alone during the ITT at Giro
2015, or the one in Richmond that gave him the World’s title. Alone setting
tempo for his team, more frequently that you can imagine, during long Grand
Tours stages. So that Vasil, at the end, made a new sport from cycling: a long
career pacing speed against wind, rocks and time that pass away.
