Domenico Pozzovivo and Nairo Quintana - Giro d'Italia 2014 |
Domenico Pozzovivo is a classic climber for Giro d'Italia. One who really doesn't care about Classics or any other race but concentrate all efforts during the three weeks in May.
When he moved from an Italian ProCon to a medium size WorldTour we thought it was going to be a loss for the team unless to have a rider fully dedicated to the Giro d'Italia. That prediction went wrong only few times, when we saw him fighting for a Liege Bastogne Liege two years ago and for Catalunya last year. The rider is now 33 and most probably he will not be able to shift to an international approach but we may still appreciate his acceleration with a long gear during the hilly stages of the Giro. In the picture, he hooks Nairo Quintana on the difficult Oropa climb.
